If you are passionate about sport and sexy cars or you are a fan of the brand from Sant'Agata Bolognese (Italy), you should travel along Viale Lamborghini at least once in your life. It is by stepping on the asphalt that separates production and museum that you will get to the heart of the car manufacturer's mission: TURNING OUR VISIONARY IDEAS INTO STUNNING CREATIONS.
Who is the founder of Lamborghini
Born in 1916, Ferruccio Lamborghini founded his farm tractor company, creating an outstanding business. In the early Sixties, Ferruccio Lamborghini decided to enter sports car market to challenge the Maranello’s neighbor Ferrari.
He started working on the project at the end of 1962 and in May 1963 he had already established the company Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini, buying a piece of land in Sant’Agata Bolognese (Italy), about 25 km far from Bologna, to build a large and very modern factory.
Where do the names of Lamborghini cars come from?
Creator of one of the most famous sporting brands in the world, Ferruccio Lamborghini was also passionate about bulls and all the ritual that accompanies the Spanish bullfight.
Born on April 28, 1916, Lamborghini used his zodiac sign, Taurus, to design the symbol of his car company.
In 1962, during a trip to Seville, he met the greatest bull breeder, Eduardo Miura. Since then the aesthetics and strength of this world have been the inspiration for one of his most famous cars, the Lamborghini Miura that inaugurates the tradition of names taken from famous bulls or bull breeders.
The Lamborghini museum
The fascinating history, iconic models and tours of the production lines inside the Automobili Lamborghini Museum reveal 60 years of innovation that are projecting Lamborghini into the future.
From the first visionary creations of the genius of Ferruccio Lamborghini, such as the Miura and the Countach, followed by the more recent and exclusive super sports cars like the Huracán Performante, the Aventador SVJ, and the few-offs Centenario, Sesto Elemento and Veneno, to arrive today with the first Lamborghinis with hybrid technology, the Sian and Countach LPI 800-4.
Although not recent, the structure appears modern: a long brown stripe interrupted by large windows.
What cars can you see at the Lamborghini museum
The Lamborghini Museum, revised in its exhibition spaces in 2016, presents itself as a single milky white environment, interrupted by columns on which the lighting winds vertically.
The cars on the ground floor are as if suspended between the living room and the garden, thanks to the effect generated by the large windows.
The museum is today divided into two sections: the first is dedicated to an exhibition of models, from historical ones such as Miura and Countach to more recent ones;
The route thus allows you to admire step by step the history of the house of the bull up to the birth of the Huracán and Aventador.
Among the many cars on display, you can also find some new products, including the Urus, Lamborghini's SUV just presented to the public.
There is then a special section dedicated exclusively to the Lamborghini experience, with a brand new driving simulator in which you can step into the shoes of a real driver and try your hand at driving one of the Lambo super sports cars in various challenges on some of the most famous circuits.
Is it possible to visit the production line?
From the brand new Revuelto V12 hybrid, whose production line comprises 15 stations, passing through the V10 line where the Huracán was born, and up to the Upholstery line. The guided tours starting from the Lamborghini Museum make the visit an unforgettable experience for discovering the company’s most surprising and technological places.
At the reception they suggest booking more than 2 weeks in advance, production line tours are only during working hours. Book here.
However, if your visit is limited to the museum, inside you will find a large interactive screen, with aerial views of the entire Lamborghini area and the production line.
Take a picture but don't touch
Although photos and video recordings are expressly prohibited in the instructions on the site, you will be allowed to do so at reception, using your own devices. The guide who will follow you, if you have purchased a combined ticket, will also open all the doors to allow you to fully enjoy the view of the interiors of each model.
When to go to the museum
The museum is open every day continuously. If you want to enjoy a trip on Sunday and want to enjoy an intimate visit, know that from 3.30pm it becomes full of voices and flashes. In this case, take advantage of the lunch break, which will keep you away from the temptations of the many excellent trattorie in the area.
Video
A large screen shows the magnificent videos made for the cars. Driving the Lamborghini Urus S among the streets of Taormina caught our attention on a comfortable and complicit sofa.
